<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When innovators talk about thinking outside the box, they mean coming up with creative ways to solve problems - new ways to look at things. How do they do it? How can you do it too? We first have to ask what the "box" is. Then we can look at how to get outside of it. The "box" is the normal way of doing things and looking at things. It is the assumptions that almost everyone involved is making. The best way to start thinking out of the box then, is to identify and challenge all the assumptions that make up thinking inside the box. One of the major liquor brands was faltering years ago, and they couldn't seem to boost their sales. Promotions, lowering the price, getting better shelf placement - these were the "in the box" solutions. Then someone challenged the assumptions, by asking "What if we stopped the promotions and just raised the price?" The price was raised as an experiment, and sales soon doubled. As it turns out, some types of liquor are bought quite often as gifts. Buyers don't want to buy the most expensive one, but they also don't want to seem cheap, so they won't buy products that don't cost enough. Now imagine what happens to your profit margins when you raise the price and double the sales. That's the power of thinking outside of the box. </div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Ways To Get Outside The Box</b> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Challenging assumptions is a powerful creative problem solving technique. The difficult part is to identify the assumptions. If you are designing a new motorcycle, write down assumptions like "speed matters," "it has to run on gas" and "it needs two wheels," not because you expect to prove these wrong, but because challenging these can lead to creative possibilities. Maybe the time has come for an electric three-wheeled motorcycle. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another way to get to creative solutions is to "assume the absurd." This is either fun or annoying, depending on how open-minded you can be. All you do is start making absurd assumptions, then finding ways to make sense of them. The easiest way to do it is by asking "what if." </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What if a carpet cleaning business was better off with half as many customers? It seems absurd, but work with it. Hmm...less stressful, perhaps. More profitable if each customer was worth three times as much. Is that possible? Commercial jobs that involve large easy-to-clean spaces (theaters, offices, convention halls) make more money in a day than houses, with fewer headaches. Focusing on getting those accounts could be the most profitable way to go - not so absurd. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another way to more innovative ideas is to literally do your thinking out of the box. Get out of the house or the office. Look around at how others are doing things. On busses in Ecuador, salesmen put a product into everyone's hands and let them hold it while they do a sales pitch. Then you have to give back "your" product or pay for it. It is very effective. How could you use the principle in your business? </div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">If you are an entrepreneur, you know that your success cannot depend on the opinions of others. Like the wind, opinions change...like the weather, opinions change <i>frequently</i>. To succeed at any endeavor, you must stay the course...no matter what the cost! Here are some surefire tips to help you on your journey. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>1. Avoid Negativity.</b> Negative people are all around us. They can include our loved ones as well as a dear friend. Most often, it is the opinions of total strangers that breeds the most negativity as if someone who doesn’t know or understand you is able to voice a reasonably thought out opinion about you. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">No, you shouldn’t avoid those who are close to you, rather there are areas of conversation that are less profitable. Accept criticism constructively, but steer the conversation away from nonstop negative banter. Negativity will grow on you unless you take control. </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><b>2. Build Yourself Up.</b> No, I do not mean for you to puff yourself up with pride, rather you can be your best source of encouragement by encouraging yourself. How can you do this? Read the testimonies of other entrepreneurs/succeeders who have gone before you. Current day success stories of people who have gone from “rags to riches†[or from simple means to great influence] include personalities like Oprah Winfrey, Martha Stewart, and Bill Gates. Yesterday’s success stories are numerous and include: Thomas Edison, Harry S. Truman, and Abraham Lincoln. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>3. Go Back to Square One.</b> Should you find yourself wavering, recall those things that encouraged you to take your “step of faith†in the first place. <u>Recall</u> what it takes to succeed: discipline, self confidence, independence, hard work, sacrifice, etc. <u>Look forward</u> to the anticipated results: a good income, independence, a job you love, etc. Finally, <u>remember</u> the worst job you ever worked...imagine yourself working there again. Blah! Use whatever it takes to motivate you. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">So, toss off the negative thoughts and embrace that which is uplifting, inspiring, encouraging, warm, friendly, and helpful. You are on track to achieving great things as long as you do not let yourself become derailed by the negative words of others. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">Self-identity? Who are you really? We identify with many things, but this is just a process in our minds. In fact, this identification causes us to suffer. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Your favorite basketball team loses, and you suffer as though YOU lost. Your car is damaged and it feels like YOU are hurt. Somebody attacks who they think you are, and it is as though they could actually reach inside and poke at your true self. Is there a way to escape this unecessary drama and pain? </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Perhaps, if you can see what you are not. Seeing this clearly can free you from much of the suffering that comes from identification. Try this simple meditation. </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><b>A Meditation On Self Identity</b> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Get comfortable in a quiet place. Close your eyes, relax and take several deep breaths, breathing through your nose. Let your breathing fall into a natural pattern. Allow tension to drain from your body. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Now begin by asking: Where am I? What am I? Who am I? Let these questions sit for a moment in your mind. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Be aware of your body. Think of your leg. If you lost it, would you cease to exist? Are you your leg? Go through the parts of your body, asking "Am I here?" "Is this my self?" </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Open your eyes and look around you. Are you those things? Maybe it you feel pain when your favorite chair breaks, as though it were you. But you're not that chair. Ask yourself which of these things you own are you. "Am I this?" </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Close your eyes and say your name. Do you feel a sense of identity? What if you had no name? Ask "Am I really..." and say your name again. What's the honest answer? If this one is tough, say "I am..." and insert any other name. Notice how when you call yourself by another name, you feel differently. Your name-identity is a collection of ideas, something seen differently by you and others. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">As feelings arise, ask "Am I this fear?.. this pain, desire, sadness, pleasure, anger? Your feelings are not you - they just pass through you. Your clothes, your body, your reputation - none of it is your true self-identity. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Do this meditation for twenty minutes, then take a deep breath and get up. Notice if you feel different - less worried or less attached to things, feelings and thoughts. Do the meditation as often as necessary, to remind you of what you are not. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="background-color: white; border-color: white; border-style: solid; border-width: 1px 1px 1px 1px; float: left; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"></div><span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>Steve Gillman has meditated and studied meditation for over twenty years. <br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">“I have heard it said that the first ingredient of success is to dream a great dream.”<br />
John A. Appleman </div><div style="text-align: justify;">How often do you dream or aspire? What do you dream of? Why do people struggle to act upon their dreams? Is it fear of failure, insecurity in their abilities or chalk it up to wishful thinking that holds them back? These are questions that my clients ask me all the time. In return I offer, “Isn’t it amazing how people only dream of greatness?” </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">I have never heard of anyone dreaming of failure or aspiring to be unsuccessful. Failure does not play any part in dreaming. It is the dreamer that instills failure, not the dream. I have read of many very successful dreamers that failed numerous times before they experienced success. The difference is that failure was not going to end their dreams only motivate them to dream bigger. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Many of you fail to seek your purpose in life and you should. You dream and then follow it up with a list of all the reasons why the dream is unachievable. You fill your life with excuses and “I can’t.” Many great companies were conceived from a dream, nurtured in a garage or basement and grew to be traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Why not you? Why not your dream? The only true limits you experience in life are those you create or those you allow others to impose upon you. If you can dream it, you can do it! </div><div style="text-align: justify;">“Sometimes when we read the words of those who have been more than conquerors, we feel almost despondent. I feel that I shall never be like that. But they won through step-by-step by little bits of wills, little denials of self, little inward victories by faithfulness, and in very little things. They became what they are. No one sees these little hidden steps. They only see the accomplishment, but even so, those small steps were taken. There is no sudden triumph, no spiritual maturity. That is the work of the moment.” <br />
Amy Carmichael quoted in: Tim Hansel, Holy Sweat, 1987,<br />
Word Books Publisher, p. 130. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Dreaming is the easy part. Acting on the dream is harder. Recognize that a dream is a journey. On the simplest level, it takes commitment, time, desire, and courage. But rarely is something great easily realized. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">In Bruce Wilkinson’s book, “The DreamGiver,” he tells the story of a man named Anybody. Anybody has a great dream, but struggles to break free of his comfort zone and push toward his dream. One afternoon he draws the courage and begins to tell others of his dream. They laugh at him, tell him to stop being foolish and forget about his dreams. “Stop kidding yourself, you can’t do it,” they would remind him. These “dream bullies” make every effort to push him back to mediocrity. Do not get caught in this trap. I am here today to tell you that you CAN do it. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">How do I know that this is possible? I have done it. A few years ago, I decided that I was going to step out in faith, believe in myself and God’s purpose for my life. I was going to follow my dream. I was in a similar place as “Anybody.” I was comfortable but unhappy. I, too, dreamed a greater dream. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">When I came to the realization that I wanted more out of life, I created a motivational phrase to keep me going when I felt challenged. “If you can dream it, you can do it!” I made it my life’s mission statement. No longer was I going to stand in the way of my dreams or was I going to let anyone else either. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Many people questioned my decisions and looking back now I recognize why; my dreams impacted them. I challenged their comfort zones. They feared my success because of the implications that it had on their lives. They worried that they would lose their partner in pity or were so locked into mediocrity and their comfort zones that it was impossible for them to imagine my success. They viewed the process or decision with great skepticism. Today, my dream is evolving, but the dream is still very much alive. Has it been easy? No. Has it been rewarding? Yes. Will someday I realize my dream? Definitely. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">I am here today to challenge you to reach for your dream. Do not be afraid to dream. If you can dream it, you can do it! Many of the people that impacted history came from humble beginnings. We can easily look to the Bible to discover humble greatness. Moses immediately comes to mind. He stuttered and God chose him to speak to Pharaoh. He felt inadequate and unable to achieve the greatness God had laid before him. God often chooses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">He said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel?” Exodus 3:11. Later in Exodus 4:10, he said, “I am not eloquent, neither before or since you have spoken to me, but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” Simply, please do not take me out of my comfort zone. I appreciate you thinking of me, but this might be a little bigger than I can handle. He failed to see the dream because he was focused on the obstacles. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">What about David. When his great army cowered before the giant Goliath, he stood up, grabbed his dream of freedom and through a stone in the direction of greatness. He later became a great King. What if that monumental day, he chose not to pick up the stone? </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Where would the world be if they had chosen to turn away from a dream? What would have become of them if they chose to listen to all of the reasons “why not,” instead of “why not me?” Where will you be when you realize what might have been? </div><div style="text-align: justify;">What stone might you throw that could change your life? Get focused and make a commitment. Integrate your dreams into your daily life. Many coaches promote goal setting, as do I. I encourage my clients to list their goals and strategically place them in areas where they can be frequently reminded of the goals. I created a wristband with the embossed phrase; Dream It – Do It. I look at it all the time. It reminds me of the mission and helps keep things in perspective. If you would like to learn more about the “Dream It – Do It” wristband, visit my website. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">“Those who lose dreaming are lost.”<br />
Unknown </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Dreaming is recognizing and embracing the potential for greatness and seeking it in all areas of your life. Believe in your dreams and your ability to accomplish them. Keep your dreams in front of you. Never forget, if you can dream it, you can do it! </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face...You must do the thing you think you cannot do." - Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962). </div><div style="text-align: justify;">When I came to live in England in 1996, I was shocked to discover that a crook had already hijacked my birth certificate and used it to collect my National Insurance card, credit card, and even opened a bank account. I also discovered I was purportedly married. Everywhere I went, I was told somebody was bearing my name. At a stage the authorities did not know who the real Dayo Olomu was. Fear hit me in the face and it nearly killed my dream. Though it took me two years to sort everything out but I resolved that fear will not kill my dream. Today the rest is history. </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">FEAR is an ancient topic in the history of human race. It is enough to make one sick. It causes some people a constant and gnawing pain in the pit of the stomach. Others drink more or smoke more because of fear. It has killed many dreams and ruined several careers than all other causes combined. The number one killer of our dreams at work and at home is fear. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">The longer I live, the more I realize that fear is the worst enemy of the human species. And it's been with us since the beginning. The Holy Bible, Torah and Koran spoke exhaustively about fear. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">In fact, it seems the older we get the more prone we are to allowing fear to control our lives and destroy our dreams. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Stop and think about it. Most children are fearless unless an adult has already instilled fear in them. Teenagers and even young adults continue to display mostly courageous attitudes. But as we grow, we become more fearful. Perhaps we realize there is a lot at stake at that point. Any mistake could be life-changing. We should gradually become more fearless with age because wisdom, which usually comes with age, makes us more apt to see the truth in a situation. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">That fear is a myth, a creation of a weak mind, is illustrated by this acronym: FEAR- False Evidence Appearing Real. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">I have many friends who were once seemingly fearless super-achievers; however, having reached their middle ages they have become more fearful that the quality of their lives have significantly suffered. They have surrendered their dreams and, literally their life to some type of fear - fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of change, fear of success, fear of making decisions, fear of responsibility, and/or fear of commitment. It is fear, and all of its cousins (such as worry, anxiety, depression, and self-doubt), that will turn your dream of success into a chilling nightmare that haunts you into psychological paralysis. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Often people say to me, 'I can't afford to pursue my dream because I don't have enough money.' I ask them how much they need to pursue such dreams. Usually the answer is, 'I don't know, but I know I don't have enough.' The same with time. Are you complaining that you don't have the time to pursue your dreams or that you are busy, while never actually scheduling an hour to see how you might break your dream into smaller projects? Jim Rohn, America's foremost business Philosopher once said: "Don't mistake movement for achievement. It's easy to get faked out by being busy. The question is: busy doing what?" </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Reiterating his words, Vic Johnson, founder of AsAManThinketh.net said "Fear can be defeated because fear is a learned response in the first place. It's said that we were only born with two fears: the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. Every other fear you have was learned!" </div><div style="text-align: justify;">One of the greatest ways to conquer fear and keep our dream alive is to use our faith. To use the words of Professor Tam David-West, Nigeria's former Petroleum Minister in an interview he granted to Nigeria's ThisDay Newspaper on July 20, 1997, "Be not afraid. Hold on to your Faith with the buoyant hope and divine assurance that all will be well." Personally, I find solace in the scripture which says "God has not given us the spirit of fear but the spirit of love, power and a sound mind." Moreover, the word 'fear not' is recorded 365 times in the Bible, which means that everyday, there is one to use. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">I am a believer in the philosophy of the mountain climbers who say, "I will climb the mountain. They have told me it's too high, it's too far, it's too steep, it's too rocky, and it's too difficult. But it's my mountain. I will climb it. You'll soon see me waving from the top or you'll never see me, because unless I reach the peak, I'm not coming back." Who can argue with such resolve? Jim Rohn once said: "When confronted with such iron-will determination, I can see time, fate and circumstances calling a hasty conference and deciding, 'we might as well let him have his dream.' He's said he's going to get there or die trying." </div><div style="text-align: justify;">One thing you must never allow fear to do is to stop you from achieving your dream. Never stop until all your dreams come true. Remember, obstacles and fear are the things you see when your eyes are off the target. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="background-color: white; border-color: white; border-style: solid; border-width: 1px 1px 1px 1px; float: left; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>Dayo Olomu is a UK-based Motivational Speaker, Writer, Business/Life Coach, Trainer, Media Entrepreneur and Competent Toastmaster. <br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">I am going to ask you to something very weird right now. First of all, I want you to listen to your thoughts. Now tell me, what thoughts fill your head? Would you label them as positive, or negative? </div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Now let's say you are walking down the street with these thoughts. Do you think anyone who would meet you would be able to tell you what's on your mind? </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">The answer to number one is up to you. But, the answer number two can be pretty generic. Although people will not be able to tell you exactly what you think, they will more or less have an idea of how you are feeling. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Here's another question. When you enter a party filled with friends, do they all fall silent as if something terrible had happened? Or does everybody there perk up as if waiting for something exciting to happen? </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">You know what? The answer to all these depends on your frame of mind. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Thoughts are very powerful. They affect your general attitude. The attitude you carry reflects on your appearance, too - unless, of course, you are a great actor. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">And it doesn't end there. Your attitude can also affect people around you. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The type of attitude you carry depends on you. It can be either positive or negative. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Positive thoughts have a filling effect. They are admittedly invigorating. Plus, the people around the person carrying positive thoughts are usually energized by this type of attitude. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Negative thoughts on the other hand have a sapping effect on other people. Aside from making you look gloomy and sad, negative thoughts can turn a festive gathering into a funeral wake. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">A positive attitude attracts people, while a negative attitude repels them. People tend to shy away from those who carry a negative attitude. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">We can also define attitude as the way of looking at the world. If you choose to focus on the negative things in the world, more or less you have a negative attitude brewing up. However, if you choose to focus on the positive things, you are more likely carry a positive attitude. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">You have much to gain from a very positive attitude. For one, studies have shown that a positive attitude promotes better health. Those with this kind of attitude also have more friends. projecting a positive attitude also helps one to handle stress and problems better than those who have a negative attitude. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">A positive attitude begins with a healthy self-image. If you will love the way you are and are satisfied, confident, and self-assured, you also make others are around feel the same way. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">A negative attitude, on the other hand, has, of course, an opposite effect. So, carrying a negative attitude has a twofold drawback. You feel bad about yourself, and you make others feel the same way. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If you want to have a positive attitude, you have to feature healthy thoughts. This is probably very hard to do nowadays since, all around us, the media feeds us nothing but negative thoughts. A study shows that for every 14 things a parent says to his or her child, only one is positive. This is truly a saddening thought. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If you want a healthier outlook in life, you need to think happy thoughts, and you have to hear positive things as well. So, what can you do? Well, for starters, you could see a funny movie, you could play with children, spend some time telling jokes with friends. All these activities fill you with positive stimuli, which in turn promotes positive attitude. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Although it is impossible to keep ourselves from the negative things around us, you can still carry a positive attitude by focusing on the good things, the positive things in life. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">And this positive attitude you now carry can be of benefit to other people. Sometimes when other people feel down, the thing people mostly do is try to give them advice. But sometimes, all they need is somebody to sit by them, and listen to them. If you have a positive attitude you may be able to cheer them up without even having to say anything. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If positive attitude is really great, why do people choose to adopt a negative attitude instead? One who carries a negative attitude may be actually sending a signal for attention. Before you get me wrong, feeling sad, angry, or gloomy is not wrong itself. But dwelling on these thoughts for far too long is not healthy either. There is a time to mourn. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">As always, if you are beset by troubles, even in your darkest hour, focus on the good things in life, you will always have hope. Problems become something you can overcome. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">You do not have much to lose by adopting a healthy, positive attitude. Studies show that such an attitude actually retards aging, makes you healthier, helps you develop a better stress coping mechanism, and has a very positive effect on all the people you meet every day. So, what's not to like about a positive attitude? Adopt one today. </div><br />

by <a href="http://www.populararticles.com/index.php?page=author&author_name=Mary_Gardner">Mary Gardner</a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I’m so excited that I have discovered this secret today. It’s something that I promise will reduce the stress level in your lives. It’s easy, convenient and all you have to do is plan: THE NIGHT BEFORE! </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Today was the third day of school for my son Jeremy. Today we were among the very first people at school. Every single day, the kids line up in the parking lot at the school with their teachers. At 7:55am, the principal, Mrs. Katie Walsh, directs the students in The Lord’s Prayer, and the Pledge of Allegiance. It’s a wonderful tradition and unites the school every single day. </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">Today, because Jeremy was the first boy in his class to arrive, he got to be the line leader! Now, if you know anything about kindergarten, The LINE Leader is a VERY special thing to be. It’s the first person in line. It’s the leader. It’s the HEAD HONCHO! And today, Jeremy was the line leader! That made him feel special and I know this because he told the teacher that he was the FIRST person in the class to get there this morning. He was quite proud of that fact. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Yesterday though? A totally different story! Yesterday Jeremy and I were running across the parking lot to get there before the class went inside. We completely missed the prayer AND the Pledge and I was rushing him so much he started crying and nearly sat down in the middle of the parking lot. When we got there, I pretty much threw him in line, kissed him goodbye and both of us were nervous with adrenaline as we said goodbye. Whew! We JUST made it. The alternative was the go to the principals’ office to sign him in. I just can’t see me going to the PRINCIPAL’S office during the first week of school. Especially since I was NEVER sent to the Principal’s office in my whole 12 years of school! (Yes, believe it or not. I was one of the GOOD GIRLS!) </div><div style="text-align: justify;">So I vowed last night to get to school early. Sway and I double checked all of our clocks with the world clock. We set them all on time and I set my wrist watch a bit fast. I made sure last night that his book bag was ready, his uniform was ironed and we all got to bed early. My clock went off 15 minutes earlier this morning and we didn’t let Jeremy linger in bed this morning. We fed him, got his snack put together and got him dressed with time to spare. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Was it easy? OF COURSE not! We struggled like crazy to get him to get out of bed, to get him fed and to get dressed. But Sway and I worked together to get it done. Sure we had some crying fits and I think there were a few tense moments from all of our ends, but we did it and we got there early with a LOT of time to spare. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">It was great! We got to sit in the car and talk about the day. We got to talk about what the day could be like if he had really good behavior. We talked about him meeting some new kids and introducing himself to others and being kind to others. We even got to call Jeremy’s daddy and tell him how early we were. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">When we got to the parking lot, I got to talk with Mrs. Dowell, his teacher and he got to share with her how he helped me yesterday when I sprained my ankle. She was delighted that he helped his mommy and showed the appropriate amount of pride. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Then Jeremy got to stand in line as the other boys lined up behind him. I got to socialize with the other mommies which is always fun. I got to kiss him goodbye as they walked away and he seemed fine today. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">It was such a great day that I’m convinced that our habits can change. We can get to bed early EVERY night. We can prepare everything in advance and have a smooth morning and get to school early every day. It’s worth striving for. I want my little boy to get in the habit of being early and enjoying the feelings that it brings. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">I want to apply this tactic to every part of my life. To my coaching appointments, to church, or anywhere I must be on a regular basis. I like the feeling of being prepared instead of just arriving in a rush and trying to catch up with everyone else. I like not having the adrenaline rush and having to calm down. I learned this lesson years ago when arriving to the airport and I’ve never regretted getting there early. I’ve always been perfectly calm, cool and collected when I travel. Of course I learned the hard way and remember racing to the gate and being out of breath more than once. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">So I know I can change my habits since I’ve done it before. And now, I’m instilling new habits in my son, and in my husband. I think it’s going to make the school year easier. And somehow, I think it’s going to make our life easier too. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">So if you have that rushed feeling when you are driving around town or getting to meetings or appointments, try planning the night before. Get the whole family engaged in the new rule of thumb. It can change your whole outlook on school. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">So try using this secret of planning to arrive early. It can change your life, your stress and your reputation! </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Besides, it’s a whole lot more fun. And isn't that a better way to live? </div><div style="background-color: white; border: 1px solid white; float: left; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Mary Gardner is an Executive Communications Consultant and Coach. <div style="text-align: justify;">This article emphasizes on the most important phenomenon of life, the pursuit of excellence and perfection. It also throws light on what brought Spartans to extinction, which gives you a better idea on what this article is all about. The 'Spartan' word gives the meaning as austere, frugal or simple. It is dedicated to one city in Greece. The people of this city left the world with an excellent lesson on what does pursuit of excellence mean. They however focused mostly on military ability and that became the reason for their extinction. In ancient Greece pursuit of excellence was pertained in many numbers of skills. </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">Think about what is the whole generation of today is running after? Only money, worldly pleasures, fame, and the list go on and on. Isn't it? Sadly it is. People today have gone so busy running after these processions which are of damn least importance. They don't even realize what actual goal of life should be? People today have lost the true sense of humour to realize what exactly the greatness is. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">To get some (http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com/mediterranean-style.html) tips on mediterranean inspiration home decoration and mediteranean stylevisit the website. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">But, the Spartans lived in another manner. They were so very concentrated in achieving greatness that they even decorated their homes sparsely. They just kept moving forward in achieving true greatness that they just kept themselves strictly away from all the worldly and unnecessary stuff. They reached the extreme height of greatness to an extent when they dominated the Greek world. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Imagine a person who has acknowledged many things but didn't share with anyone and died. He not only died himself but also brought all that knowledge that he had to die with him. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Let's come back to Spartans; here also happened the same thing. The Spartans slowly disappeared and their dominance came to an end more prior than expected. They ended up giving the world an extremely important lesson and nothing else. All their greatness ended with them. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Families, art, culture, recreation, are also important pursuits in ones life. But, unfortunately these pursuits were pretty ignored by Spartans. They concentrated on military perfection so much that they ended up missing many important pursuits of life. War politics and athletics were given the first priority to and other things like music and arts became secondary. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The Spartans isolated themselves and did not even allow others to mingle among them. This kept them away from the rest of the societies, and this also kept the world away from their pursuit to greatness. Likewise, none others in this world understood what all stuff they took embedded into their hearts and minds. They simply came to extinction and left nothing for others to follow their foot steps. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Remember, we should not be Spartans. We should not only improve ourselves from good to better to best in terms of pursuit of excellence and greatness but should also concentrate on other responsibilities. There are many such things in this world which need equal importance in life. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">I woke up one day from my unconsciousness. I had no control over my life. It had been on autopilot for years. All of my decisions had been made unconsciously. How did I get where I was? My whole life felt like a dream. The only real thing I do feel, is this moment, right now. It is the only thing I can be sure of. Had I enjoyed the past years of my life, they all seem like distant memories. Why had I live unconsciously? </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">I want to be happy, but I also don't want to be a robot. I need to start making conscious decisions. My past decisions would just come out, often without thinking about it. I want to be in the moment, weigh my options, not think about my past and make a real decision. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If you feel how I felt, its time for you to wake up and take control of your life. There is a world wide awakening right now. We are on the cusp of a "New Earth" so to speak. Have you read Eckhart Tolle's Book "A New Earth"? Or joined on Oprah's webcasts about it? If not, you don't know what you are missing. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the truth is, I feel like I have know the information all along, but that is has just come to my attention. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If you want positive change to occur in your life, please learn to live consciously in everyday life. Watch the movie the secret, keep an open mind. My life has transformed over the past few years. I just simply can't believe what I have been missing. Maybe I just wasn't ready. I am not trying to convince you of anything. I just want you to open your eyes and see what you can see. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">We are on the brink of a global shift. We are no longer looking to outside influences to tell us what to think. We are becoming more independent and searching for our own truth. Fortunately, this is the 21st century and we are not likely to be killed because of it. We now have the freedom to believe what we want to believe. Many are comfortable with views that are constant and never changing. But they are beginning to become a minority. We need to wake up and make our own decisions, not what we were programmed to say from birth.</div><br />

by <a href="http://www.populararticles.com/index.php?page=author&author_name=Kim_And_Charles_Petty">Kim And Charles Petty</a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">Life is like a road. There are long and short roads, smooth and rocky roads, crooked and straight paths. In our life many roads would come our way as we journey through life. There are roads that lead to a life of single blessedness, marriage, and religious vocation. There are also roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment. <a name='more'></a> <br />
Just like any road, there are corners, detours, and crossroads in life. Perhaps the most perplexing road that you would encounter is a crossroad. With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, which road will you take? What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one along the way? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are: in front of a crossroad? <br />
<br />
There are no guarantees. <br />
You do not really know where a road will lead you until you take it. There are no guarantees. This is one of the most important things you need to realize about life. Nobody said that choosing to do the right thing all the time would always lead you to happiness. Loving someone with all your heart does not guarantee that it would be returned. Gaining fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness. Accepting a good word from an influential superior to cut your trip short up the career ladder is not always bad, especially if you are highly qualified and competent. There are too many possible outcomes, which your really cannot control. The only thing you have power over is the decisions that you will make, and how you would act and react to different situations. <br />
<br />
Wrong decisions are always at hindsight. <br />
Had you known that you were making a wrong decision, would you have gone along with it? Perhaps not, why would you choose a certain path when you know it would get you lost? Why make a certain decision if you knew from the very beginning that it is not the right one. It is only after you have made a decision and reflected on it that you realize its soundness. If the consequences or outcomes are good for you, then you have decided correctly. Otherwise, your decision was wrong. <br />
<br />
Take the risk: decide. <br />
Since life offers no guarantee, and you would never know that your decision would be wrong until you have made it, then you might as well take the risk and decide. It is definitely better than keeping yourself in limbo. Although it is true that one wrong turn could get you lost, it could also be that such a turn could be an opportunity for an adventure, moreover open more roads. It is all a matter of perspective. You have the choice between being a lost traveller or an accidental tourist of life. But take caution that you do not make decisions haphazardly. Taking risks is not about being careless and stupid. Here are some pointers that could help you choose the best option in the face of life's crossroads: Get as many information as you can about your situation. <br />
<br />
You cannot find the confidence to decide when you know so little about what you are faced with. Just like any news reporter, ask the 5 W's: what, who, when, where, and why. What is the situation? Who are the people involved? When did this happen? Where is this leading? Why are you in this situation? These are just some of the possible questions to ask to know more about your situation. This is important. Oftentimes, the reason for indecision is the lack of information about a situation. <br />
<br />
Identify and create options. What options do the situation give you? Sometimes the options are few, but sometimes they are numerous. But what do you do when you think that the situation offers no options? This is the time that you create your own. Make your creative mind work. From the most simplistic to the most complicated, entertain all ideas. Do not shoot anything down when an idea comes to your head. Sometimes the most outrageous idea could prove to be the right one in the end. You can ask a friend to help you identify options and even make more options if you encounter some difficulty, but make sure that you make the decision yourself in the end. <br />
<br />
Weigh the pros and cons of every option. <br />
Assess each option by looking at the advantages and disadvantages it offers you. In this way, you get more insights about the consequences of such an option. <br />
<br />
Trust yourself and make that decision. <br />
Now that you have assessed your options, it is now time to trust yourself. Remember that there are no guarantees and wrong decisions are always at hindsight. So choose decide believe that you are choosing the best option at this point in time. <br />
<br />
Now that you have made a decision, be ready to face its consequences: good and bad. It may take you to a place of promise or to a land of problems. But the important thing is that you have chosen to live your life instead of remaining a bystander or a passive Audience to your own life. Whether it is the right decision or not, only time can tell. But do not regret it whatever the outcome. Instead, learn from it and remember that you always have the chance to make better decisions in the future. </div><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">There are lots of ladies who will agree that their lives are stressful and it is hard to keep everything together. Also, lots of ladies will tell you that their purses are normally big messes with everything their entire lives shoved into the handbag. This is where a can be a good idea. Purse organizers are for those kinds of women who are tired of hunting through their purses to find car keys, a credit card, lip gloss, etc. </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">There are all kinds of women who want to be able to keep their purses organized. Busy moms might require an organized purse so they know where the children's snacks and medications are in their bags. College students are always needing pens, pencils, and their cell phone in a short amount of time. It is wise for female students to have their purses organized so they can find these things easier and not have to search through their purse to find their pen or cell phone. Finally, businesswomen keep their Blackberries, their schedules, and their important documents located within in their briefcases and/or their purses. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">To be a good businesswoman, you need to be organized and in order to do so, these women need to have their briefcase or purse as organized as is humanly plausible. It would look extremely ridiculous if a businesswoman is in an important business meeting with executives and she has to search her purse to find all the materials she needs for the meeting. If she has to search for a minute or two through her purse to find things it looks unprofessional and it gives the message that she doesn't have her life together. Again, this is an example where purse organization is important. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">There is much to gain by having organization in your purse. It can be pretty bothersome when you are at a sales counter trying to purchase something and you have to dig through your purse to find your wallet or credit card. Also, it is a pain to have to take a long time to look through your purse to find your car keys after coming out of a mall or the grocery when your hands are full of bags. How many of us have, at one point, had to empty the entire all of the contents of our purses to find our car keys? This does not have to be how you operate anymore. Also, numerous ladies keep their day planners in their purses. When your purse is organized, not a challenge to find your planner so you don't have to search for your planner either. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">An organized purse is one of the easiest and smartest ways to start making your life more organized. Lots of ladies keep some of their most important items in their purse, so being able to find these items quickly and efficiently can always be a help and never a hindrance. You do not have to be bashful when it comes to telling friends that you have an aide to help you organize your purse. Nearly every woman should have something to keep their purse in order, so it is easy to find things and so that they can make their life easier.</div><br />
<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="article_author_line"></span>Going to college means something different for everyone. For some, it is the chance to break out and become a new person. For others, it is about getting away from parents and becoming an adult. For others it is about getting that degree to pursue cna jobs. Maybe some just go because they are supposed to, or because that’s what seems normal. Everyone does it for a different reason, but many people do it. There are not a lot of jobs in cna you can get without college, so it is one of the things many people find necessary to do in life. There are a lot of aspects to going to college however, from choosing it, to getting there, to getting through it.</div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">When choosing a college, it should be something that is totally and completely in your power. You should not let other people force you to go somewhere or influence your decision too much. It is a place where you will have to learn and live for multiple years; it needs to feel like your home. If you make a choice and try to please someone else you will only end up be unhappy yourself. Look for a college that fits you and your personality.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">You need to go on college visits, talk to counselors, and current students. Going on college visits is the best way to get a good feel of the campus. You can see class rooms, dorm rooms and watch other students interact. When visiting a college, make sure to go see the things that interest you most. If you like to exercise make sure to check out their gym. If you like to swim, look into the pool. If you enjoy being in clubs and student activities, look into what sort of environment they have for that there. You need to really take the opportunity to find everything you can out about the college.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Also, the process of getting ready for college can be tough to. From choosing to apply to enrolling, it seems to be a never-ending process. The best thing you can do is to stay calm about it and not get stressed out. Manage your time and effectively plan for getting everything done by the appropriate date. When applying for college, do not be afraid to ask your parents and your guidance counselor for help. They have gone through this process before and will be the best people to help you with it. Applications are the most stressful part of the process. It is the time in which you will really feel the need to get a lot done in not a lot of time. Many people tend to get overwhelmed with the idea that these make or break your future. It is true that they are very important, but do not let them get you too freaked out. If you are too stressed out, you will probably not write as good of an essay or do it as well.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">We all have goals that we want to achieve, and we can get closer to those goals by using daily affirmations. Positive thinking seems like such a small task, but you will be amazed at the changes that you experience as you implement daily affirmations into your life. You can encourage change by repeating your affirmations throughout the day. </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">But, how exactly do daily affirmations change your life? All thoughts that run through our conscious and subconscious minds-- both positive and negative-- influence our attitude and experiences. The outcome of our goals is actually greatly influenced by our subconscious thoughts. You can manifest the things that you desire by using positive daily affirmations and train your mind to remember those positive thoughts. As you implement these practices into your life your beliefs will change and you will be empowered and your actions and thoughts will lead you closer to your desires. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Using positive thinking will set the intention for your goal, and if you repeat the positive affirmations often they will be implanted in your mind. Understand that it is ok to desire something that you don't already have. If you really believe that you can have it then it will come. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">There are exercises that you can do to keep your mind aware of the daily affirmations that you are focusing on. Sometimes just the simple act of writing them down and posting your affirmations in a noticeable place will make a big difference. Repeat them several times a day to help keep them fresh in your mind. As you repeat your positive thoughts, be comfortable with the process and say the statements with conviction until your desires have been fulfilled. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">In order to be successful with daily affirmations you must structure the statements correctly. Keep the statements positive, and as you say the phrases put a lot of energy and excitement behind the statements-- say them with feeling. Injecting your affirmations with more desire and feeling will help them come true more quickly. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Using positive affirmations on a daily basis will create your new reality, and soon you will be happy with the new attitude that you are experiencing. </div><br />

Many people usually make a wish at that moment. They might promise themselves something, particularly to have or to do better things. You don't have to wait until new year to start doing something better. Do it everyday, every week, every month, or every time you feel need to improve or to have something better. Doing something new or improving something is a part of our daily efforts to have better productivity. It is really late to have a new wish if you have to wait for another year. So, start now to have a new wish, start working on it continuously.</div></div>rozi38125http://www.blogger.com/profile/13379796356491162958noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9070239608715473441.post-13346697106464431962011-12-15T08:02:00.000-08:002011-12-15T08:02:54.857-08:00Happy as You Want to Be<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">by <a href="http://www.populararticles.com/index.php?page=author&author_name=Kim_And_Charles_Petty">Kim And Charles Petty</a><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">Almost everyone have heard the hit single 'Don't Worry, Be Happy' by Bobby McFerrin. The song has a very catchy way of conveying its message of being happy to everyone. Bobby Mcferiin's simple message surely made a lot of people by telling them not to worry. Living a happy, resilient and optimistic life is wonderful, and is also good for your health. Being happy actually protects you from the stresses of life. Stress is linked to top causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke.<a name='more'></a> </div><a href="" name="more"></a><div style="text-align: justify;">One of the better things ever said is - 'The only thing in life that will always remain the same is change,' and in our life we have the power to make the necessary changes if we want to. Even if we find ourselves in an unbearable situation we can always find solace in the knowledge that it too would change. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Social networks or relationships are essential to happiness. People are different, accept people for who or what they are, avoid clashes, constant arguments, and let go of all kinds of resentments. If arguments seem unavoidable still try and make an effort to understand the situation and you might just get along with well with </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Happiness is actually found in everyone, increasing it is a way to make a life more wonderful and also more healthy. To be happy is relatively easy, just decide to be a happy person. Abraham Lincoln observed that most people for most of the time can choose how happy or stressed, how relaxed or troubled, how bright or dull their outlook to be. The choice is simple really, choose to be happy. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">There are several ways by which you can do this. Being grateful is a great attitude. We have so much to be thankful for. Thank the taxi driver for bringing you home safely, thank the cook for a wonderful dinner and thank the guy who cleans your windows. Also thank the mailman for bringing you your mails, thank the policeman for making your place safe and thank God for being alive. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">News is stressful. Get less of it. Some people just can't start their day without their daily dose of news. Try and think about it, 99% of the news we hear or read is bad news. Starting the day with bad news does not seem to be a sensible thing to do. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">A religious connection is also recommended. Being part of a religious group with its singing, sacraments, chanting, prayers and meditations foster inner peace. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Manage your time. Time is invaluable and too important to waste. Time management can be viewed as a list of rules that involves scheduling, setting goals, planning, creating lists of things to do and prioritizing. These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Laugh and laugh heartily everyday. Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it. As they also say -'Laughter is the best medicine.' Express your feelings, affections, friendship and passion to people around you. They will most likely reciprocate your actions. Try not to keep pent up anger of frustrations, this is bad for your health. Instead find ways of expressing them in a way that will not cause more injury or hurt to anyone. Working hard brings tremendous personal satisfaction. It gives a feeling of being competent in finishing our tasks. Accomplishments are necessary for all of us, they give us a sense of value. Work on things that you feel worthy of your time. Learning is a joyful exercise. Try and learn something new everyday. Learning also makes us expand and broaden our horizons. And could also give us more opportunities in the future. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Run, jog, walk and do other things that your body was made for. Feel alive. Avoid exposure to negative elements like loud noises, toxins and hazardous places. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">These are the few simple things you can do everyday to be happy. And always remember the quote from Abraham Lincoln, he says that, "Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." </div><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">Millions of people go back to school each year in hopes of having a better life. Those who are currently thinking about this option will need to do the right <a href="http://www.eduregistry.org/">college search</a>. This guide is perfect for individuals who are ready to start studying and working in the right direction. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Knowing where the job market currently stands is the very first step that needs to be taken. If the wrong profession is chosen, the individual could be waiting for a very long time to get into the right job position. Go with the jobs that need the most people. The nursing community is always in the market for new professionals and graduates will always have a job. </div><a name='more'></a> <br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">From there, it will be important to find the college that offers the top programs. The college search is not always going to be so long, the student just needs to know what they want to do. Go for the schools that only offer the programs desired and start moving towards the sign up process. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Those who are looking to save time and continue to work a full time job while going to college might want to think about distance learning. This is where the classes and assignments are offered online. There will be no excuse not to get into the right school and get the college degree needed to succeed. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If money is currently a little tight, every school is going to offer financial aid. This will apply to the distance learning students as well. Talk with an advisor in order to get the very best options out there and start school once it has been taken care of. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Conducting a <a href="http://www.eduregistry.org/">college search</a> is not going to take a very long time. Students who are serious about getting back on track will need to start the search as soon as possible. Get ahead right now and enjoy the brand new job that comes after that degree has been earned.</div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">Did you know that it’s up to you? It’s actually your choice. You can choose to be happy instead of waiting around for it to suddenly appear out of nowhere one day and land in your lap. Happiness is called upon and cultivated. Now keep in mind, this is my personal perspective of happiness. You might have a different view. Everyone has a unique view point, especially where emotion is concerned. But, nonetheless, I like my outlook on happiness. It helps me to see that I am the creator of my own thoughts and state of mind. </div><a name='more'></a> It is my choice what feeling I choose to have on any given day. This does not mean I don’t go with the flow of feelings, but that I can choose at any given moment to change what it is I desire.For example, if I am having a hectic day, and I do have my share, I can choose to be breathless with activity or I can remind myself to stop and choose to be calm. I can go out for a walk and embrace the beauty that surrounds me and choose to experience that aesthetic as appreciation, gratitude, joy or numbness. I can choose to vacate and disconnect from my feelings, I can space out and be oblivious, or I can call upon the grace of the moment and be one with the beauty. These are all options. I think we as a society, collectively lose sight of how powerfull we really are. I mean really full of power. We have the power to choose. It is something we are born with. No one has the power to take that away from us. It is our birthright.<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The key to owning that power fully, is to accept that you are a rightful heir to it. Knowing that you are empowered within to choose your emotion, to choose how you respond or react to something, is all up to you. It is all choice.Many times, our childhood experiences and life learning gear us away from our power. We learned to give it all away, to quietly accept whatever happens to us, without question, without standing up and saying ‘No!’ We have become a passive society of powerless and uninspired automatons, going along with the crowd. It’s a sad state of affairs that we have been raised in. Somewhere along the line, a standard was laid out and we are ‘expected’ to magically meet this invisible ‘standard’ by compromising and living according to someone else’s perspectives. Where is the happiness in that?I guess that leads me back to my original statement.Choosing happiness is a choice. Anytime you choose, you are making a decision. You are engaging your power.Think about how you are feeling right now. How long has it been since you chose what you wanted to feel?I am not suggesting that you go into a state of denial if you are in trauma, but I am suggesting that you insert a new option for yourself. Instead of sitting in pain, decide for 10 minutes that you will focus on happiness.How does it make you feel? Are you lighter? Was a burden lifted? Even if it was a mere 10 minutes, it was a starting point. It was a choice. Would you rather go through life choosing happiness and drawing happy experiences to you, or by sitting in pain and expecting the worst, thereby feeling the worst? </div><div style="text-align: justify;">It is still a choice. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">It is your choice. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">I ask only that this stirs a thought within you. It is my hope that you will look at the power you possess and carpe diem – seize the day! Make a choice! Choose to experience happiness in your life. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">It’s all up to you. Enjoy – or not- it’s your choice. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Complexity, rapid change, information overload, meaningful work and endeavors, enormously difficult decisions and a global economic malaise are but a few of the daunting challenges that face people in organizations today. Perhaps no time in history has the need for bold and effective leadership been more needed, demanded or required. Yet it seems the ability to respond to this call for leadership is inadequate because by some expert accounts leadership development is going nowhere fast. These are the findings of the last two biennial global leadership forecasts conducted by Development Dimensions International where on average more than 14,000 executives and HR managers from over 70 countries were surveyed.<br />
<a name='more'></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Just think of it, after spending billions of dollars on talent management initiatives, on behavioral screening, on performance measurement equations and metrics, leadership development is going nowhere fast? How can this be? Where are the leaders, where is the leadership? Perhaps the answer lays in a lesson from the movie Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Arc. As Indy and Sallah learned when they searched for the Well of the Souls in hopes of finding the Arc of the Covenant, make sure your digging in the right place!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Say the word leadership and it means different things to different people even though many are drawn to the notion of a positional or heroic leader. In 1978 James MacGregor Burns, the patriarch of leadership thought in America, wrote that the predominant leadership approach tends often unconsciously to be elitist; it projects heroic figures against the shadowy background of drab powerless, masses. In the idea economy, where Peter Drucker has pronounced the knowledge worker as the leading class, this notion of leadership is an aberration completely out of touch with the reality of today’s world. Have you been on the Internet lately-- not a really drab and powerless place?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Yet it seems we continue to dig in the same place although at a frenzied pace. That place is marked by a factory mindset--an industrial perspective portrayed as an indescribable set of traits fully owned by the leader who sits at the top of the organization. In the factory mindset, whatever the leader does is leadership. All we have to do is make better leaders follow their orders and we will be saved!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The fact is that the ideas and principles of the leadership models built for industrial times are grossly limited and in-congruent for an interconnected, extremely aware, technology and information enraptured society. A society that is surrounded by rapid complex change and charged with making infinitely difficult decisions and who, at the core of its being, seeks purpose and meaning from the work it does.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">In this environment, the job of leaders is changing dramatically as innovation, leadership and learning at all levels of an organization have become the lynchpins of creative success. 21st century leadership must focus on melding a multitude of diverse talent and individual ability into collaborative, interdependent, and unified action capable of addressing the most complex and intractable issues and challenges.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The challenge for all 21st century leaders is to create environments built on mutual trust and continuous learning where participants in these leadership-dynamics are fully engaged, derive meaning, take ownership and responsibility for the results, and come to do their best work each and everyday. In the 21st Century, organizations must expand their thinking and act outside of the box with a notion of leadership that views participants as fully involved partners that bring talent, energy, creativity and combined action to bear on the issues at hand. In the 21st Century leadership is no longer a noun, but a verb where the actions of a committed group of people teach us that leadership is what people do together. Perhaps, it has always been so. Now, start digging!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">“The important thing to remember when it comes to forgiving is that forgiveness doesn’t make the other person right; it makes you free.” --Stormie Omartian </div><div style="text-align: justify;">How do we know if we need to forgive someone, something, or even ourselves? We know because we feel a gnawing sadness inside of us, although we may not know the cause. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">The interesting thing about choosing not to forgive, is that it hurts us more than anyone else. Your inability to forgive anything or anyone in your world may hurt someone else a bit, but I guarantee it hurts you and your world a hundred times more. </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">As a visual example, think of two goal posts set twenty-feet apart. A more content and peaceful life rests just after the goal posts — all you have to-do is run through the twenty-foot space, blindfolded and voila, you will be closer to the life you want. It will be a little tough, granted your are blindfolded — but there is a big enough area where you should be able to break through to the other side with a few attempts. Unforgiveness is like an eighteen-foot wall. Place that between your goal posts and now try running toward that other side. Maybe you’ll get through. Most likely, you’ll get some bad bruises, or maybe a broken bone, and probably give up, believing that there really isn’t a space — just a brick wall. Like a wall, unforgiveness blocks our path. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Forgiveness Brings Freedom </div><div style="text-align: justify;">An unforgiving nature is very costly in our lives. We may find ourselves attaching to other people in unhealthy ways, punishing other people, or losing hope in the world and in our peers. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">The first step in forgiveness is to understand all the elements of the incident we are trying to forgive. We may be forgiving God, a person who harmed or hurt us, or a person who has harmed or hurt someone we love. We may be forgiving our parents, our society, our world, or ourselves. Forgiveness does not mean that we are condoning hurtful actions. It doesn’t mean that we accept inappropriate actions of others. Forgiveness does not mean that we forget how much we hurt. Forgiveness simply means that we acknowledge the deep pain we feel, but choose to move past that pain. We forgive those who contributed to our pain and let their actions become part of our past. We let go. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">We can dislike what someone has done to us, but we can still forgive them and allow them to be someone new, instead of freeze-framing them in that hurtful place. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Sometimes looking at this in a different perspective can be extremely helpful. Think back and recall a time when you did something hurtful to someone. Perhaps you said something “off the cuff ” that hurt someone’s feelings, or perhaps you did something you were ashamed about. Take a few moments to recollect the most vivid example that you can. Now think through the series of events that led up to your action. You did something hurtful and how did the<br />
other person respond? Did they eventually forgive you? What would happen if they hadn’t? What would happen if the person had stayed angry at you for that action? You made a mistake, a bad decision, or didn’t think before acting, and if they didn’t forgive you, they would never be able to see you how you are now. Unforgiveness chains people to their painful actions and pasts. We freeze that painful time. Can you see how that person would be missing all you could offer? Or how that person could become so focused on the pain you caused, that they would miss the other good happening around them? </div><div style="text-align: justify;">A classic example is the spiteful lover. You have probably met someone like this or have seen a likeness depicted in a movie. They have been “wronged” somehow in a relationship and have become adamant that the opposite sex is “not worthy of their time.” Instead of realizing they had a painful experience, acknowledging it and moving on, they continually focus on their pain. Meanwhile, one thousand perfect matches could walk right by and they would never know. They are too busy focusing on life’s injustices. Many friendships end this way. There is some fight or spat between close friends or neighbors, and instead of practicing forgiveness, people practice grudge-holding. Eventually, hearts grow bitter and less trusting. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">At one point in my life, I was so concerned with how others saw me. I wanted to make sure everyone had the actual facts on which to base their thoughts and opinions. If someone held what I perceived to be an unfair view, I would go to great lengths to get my own “evidence” into their hands or to defend myself. I cannot tell you how exhausting this was. Liberation came when I made the decision to truly “let go.” I began to focus only on blessing others — no matter what they thought of me. I quit trying to “present my case” and instead began to “live my life.” Everyday I set out to live the best life, and do the best work I am capable of doing. I will let that action speak for itself. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Forgiveness means to “give as before.” To quote John Bradshaw from his book The Family, “It means that we give up resentments and release the energy that has kept us in bondage.” </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Think about an event where you have not forgiven someone. Write down what emotions you feel when you recall that event. Now think back to a time before that event happened. Did you feel these emotions? You probably did not. When you forgive, you give yourself the freedom to let go of the hurtful emotions and enjoy the positive that can be found. When there aren’t any positives to be found, forgiveness gives us permission to let go, move forward and grow. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Even when we have been able to forgive those who have hurt us, we often cannot forgive ourselves. Many of us unfairly hold ourselves prisoner to unrealistic standards that we would never expect of another person. Patricia Commins writes, “self-love is the only way to move forward. It is the only cure for the wounds of the soul, the only escape route from the negative patterns of the past.” </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Self-Forgiveness Reality Check Exercise </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Recall an incident for which you have not forgiven yourself. Write about the incident in your journal. Now close your eyes. Imagine a morning where you are sitting in your kitchen with a cup of coffee one morning when a dear friend knocks at your door. Your friend is trying to hold back her tears, but you know she has been crying from her tear-stained face. You invite her in and she crumbles into the chair across from you. When you ask what is wrong, she bursts into tears, mumbling her story of sadness through strained breath. Imagine that her story of sadness is the same or parallel to the event recorded in your journal. Visualize yourself advising your friend. What do you say? Do you make her feel worse, by amplifying her mistake? Do you lecture her, implying she should hold herself hostage to her mistake and let it cause unhappiness throughout her<br />
life? Or do you take a different tactic? Take a moment to thoroughly visualize your response, and then write about it in your journal. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">A true friend would not let another friend suffer indefinitely — even for the worst of actions. Instead, a true friend would suggest accountability while encouraging self-forgiveness and forward movement. Try offering yourself that same wisdom. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Try another quick visualization. This time imagine it is you who is crying at the table. Take the same attitude with which you responded to your friend, and apply it to your situation. Write out the council you receive in your journal. Try this exercise whenever you feel you are being unforgiving of yourself. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Simple Self-Love Exercise </div><div style="text-align: justify;">For those of us who have not practiced self-love, it can be a difficult concept to grasp. Begin with a simple gesture of self-directed love. Perhaps it is five minutes of uninterrupted reading, or a hot bubble bath, or a walk in nature, or meeting a friend for a cup of coffee. It can be anything that validates the importance of treating yourself well. Create a list in your journal of simple ways you can express self-love. Affirm your value daily by practicing one of these exercises. </div><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">Time management is basically about being focused. The Pareto Principle also known as the '80:20 Rule' states that 80% of efforts that are not time managed or unfocused generates only 20% of the desired output. However, 80% of the desired output can be generated using only 20% of a well time managed effort. Although the ratio '80:20' is only arbitrary, it is used to put emphasis on how much is lost or how much can be gained with time management. </div><a name='more'></a>Some people view time management as a list of rules that involves scheduling of appointments, goal settings, thorough planning, creating things to do lists and prioritizing. These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire. <br />
<br />
But there is more skills involved in time management than the core basics. Skills such as decision making, inherent abilities such as emotional intelligence and critical thinking are also essential to your personal growth. <br />
<br />
Personal time management involves everything you do. No matter how big and no matter how small, everything counts. Each new knowledge you acquire, each new advice you consider, each new skill you develop should be taken into consideration. <br />
<br />
Having a balanced lifestyle should be the key result in having personal time management. This is the main aspect that many practitioners of personal time management fail to grasp. <br />
<br />
Time management is about getting results, not about being busy. <br />
<br />
The six areas that personal time management seeks to improve in anyone's life are physical, intellectual, social, career, emotional and spiritual. <br />
<br />
The physical aspect involves having a healthy body, less stress and fatigue. <br />
<br />
The intellectual aspect involves learning and other mental growth activities. <br />
<br />
The social aspect involves developing personal or intimate relations and being an active contributor to society. <br />
<br />
The career aspect involves school and work. <br />
<br />
The emotional aspect involves appropriate feelings and desires and manifesting them. <br />
<br />
The spiritual aspect involves a personal quest for meaning. <br />
<br />
Thoroughly planning and having a set of things to do list for each of the key areas may not be very practical, but determining which area in your life is not being giving enough attention is part of time management. Each area creates the whole you, if you are ignoring one area then you are ignoring an important part of yourself. <br />
<br />
Personal time management should not be so daunting a task. It is a very sensible and reasonable approach in solving problems big or small. <br />
<br />
A great way of learning time management and improving your personal life is to follow several basic activities. <br />
<br />
One of them is to review your goals whether it be immediate or long-term goals often. <br />
<br />
A way to do this is to keep a list that is always accessible to you. <br />
<br />
Always determine which task is necessary or not necessary in achieving your goals and which activities are helping you maintain a balanced lifestyle. Each and everyone of us has a peek time and a time when we slow down, these are our natural cycles. We should be able to tell when to do the difficult tasks when we are the sharpest. <br />
<br />
Learning to say "No." You actually see this advice often. Heed it even if it involves saying the word to family or friends. <br />
<br />
Pat yourself at the back or just reward yourself in any manner for an effective time management result. <br />
<br />
Try and get the cooperation from people around you who are actually benefiting from your efforts of time management. <br />
<br />
Don't procrastinate. Attend to necessary things immediately. <br />
<br />
Have a positive attitude and set yourself up for success. But be realistic in your approach in achieving your goals. <br />
<br />
Have a record or journal of all your activities. This will help you get things in their proper perspective. <br />
<br />
These are the few steps you initially take in becoming a well rounded individual. <br />
<br />
As the say personal time management is the art and science of building a better life. <br />
<br />
From the moment you integrate into your lifetime management skills, you have opened several options that can provide a broad spectrum of solutions to your personal growth. It also creates more doors for opportunities to knock on. <br />

by <a href="http://www.populararticles.com/index.php?page=author&author_name=William_J_Stevens">William J Stevens</a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">All of us remember the United Negro College Fund commercials of the 80s; or at the very least, we remember its slogan: 'the mind is a terrible thing to waste.' While we're talking about something different than going to university today, the slogan is definitely on point here. Our minds have a lot of potential which most of us are letting go unused. The power of the mind is something that none of us should waste and when we know how to tap into these unused resources, we can change our lives and event the world. </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">You've certainly heard about the law of attraction; the idea behind the book and film 'The Secret.' Whatever you put your mental energy toward will come to you is the message of the work. Whether you do so consciously or not, the power of the mind is such that you can make whatever you focus on happen, whether for good or ill. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">As an example, take the placebo effect - people who are receiving a placebo in clinical trials of medications often experience the effects caused by the actual medication since they believe that they are receiving the medication. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">We do this kind of thing to ourselves all the time. For instance, when you wake up thinking that this is going to be 'one of those days'; and it turns out to be a bad day. It's actually the power of the mind that causes this to happen. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">There is an increasingly large body of scientific evidence which suggests that there is a basis for this phenomenon in the laws of physics. A surprising idea comes from the world of quantum mechanics which suggests that matter (which at its most basic level is simply energy) exists only when being observed - suggesting that our minds may have more influence over the universe than we have let ourselves believe in the past. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">It is thought by some scientists that many of the phenomena we have always thought of as supernatural (such as remote viewing, telepathy and the like) are actually perfectly natural and explainable phenomena, though science may be a few years away from understanding the precise mechanisms behind them. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Even though you may not have really thought about it too much yet, the power of your mind can be the key to changing your life for the better. If you could use the power of your mind to make the universe work with you rather than against you, wouldn't you want to learn how? Keep reading for some techniques which can help you to access your own mental potential to achieve your goals in life. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If you want to use the power of the mind to accomplish something, it's best to have a specific goal; for example, if you'd like to become wealthy, set your mind on a specific amount instead of being well off in general. A specific target is easier to focus on. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Many people already know about the power of the mind and use it every day to make their goals a reality. They are able to decide on a specific goal and put all of their mind power towards this objective - and this is exactly how some of the world's most successful people have managed to become who they are today. It's not difficult to do, though learning to focus your mind on your goal does take a little metal training. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">By learning to control the power of the mind, you can gain the ability to influence the world around you and achieve just about anything you'd like. Suppose that you want a new home. You spend a lot of time thinking about it in great detail, going so far as to visualize how you'll cultivate the back yard and the colors you'll paint every room in the house. You begin putting all of your energy towards this goal, taking steps like angling for a promotion so you can make the money you need to purchase this new home, start thinking about how you'll do the work necessary to set things up exactly the way you'd like and even researching how to get the best possible mortgage. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">By focusing on this goal and putting your mental energy towards your objective, you can make it happen - don't be too surprised when your dream home goes on the market and your offer is accepted; and you even get just the right mortgage. It is the power of the mind which has made this come about, not simply good luck. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">This is something you can do; something everyone can do. Believe in the power of your mind and you can achieve anything - set your mind on a small goal and work your way up to bigger and better things as you go.</div><br />

But you will not be well rounded and most effective in all areas of your life until you take the time to think about what is important to you, write it down, then cross it off and recognize it once it has been accomplished. This simple self help method is called "goal setting." </div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Some people struggle with using "goals" at home and it is understandable. We want to build our happy homes based on love, warmth, and organization, not cold business terms. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If this situation speaks to you, please feel free to substitute the term "life lists" instead. A life list is equally as powerful, but more warm and fuzzy. Do whatever you need to do to customize these methods to make you want to see it through because the organization and success of your household has a big impact on your productivity and success in other areas of life. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The beginning stages of your goal setting will be brainstorming. Schedule some quiet time with yourself to think about what you want to do and where you want to be at the end of the day, the end of the year, five years from now, and so on. Remove all barriers from your mind, such as money, location, situation, etc. Let yourself imagine doing, and being at, these places. (Be they places on the map or places in life!) From this page of goals, dreams, and wishes, start to put them in order. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">It is time to make your lists now, so grab a pen and paper and make some headings. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Common headings are "long term goals" and "short term goals" Fill in everything from your brainstorming that fits under those categories. Be more specific if necessary. Use "Five year goals" or "in my wildest dreams goals." Have fun with it! But be prepared for the life changing effect that goal setting will have upon you. Setting the goals is motivating. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">You will be surprised at how attainable some of the most far fetched ideas become as you start to chart your successes and become more productive. </div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">A lot of us are always looking for another opportunity to make money. Whether our job pays us well, or we’re pretty limited to the amount of money we can spend, more money is always better. The only problem with making more money is that it can be very hard to do. We either need to pick up more hours at our job or we need to get a second job.</div><div> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Both of those can be pretty difficult, so it’s a good idea to think otherwise and come up with another way to make money. People don’t realize it, but the Internet is a great way to make money. You can create websites for a living, do online marketing, sell items, write for blogs or even take paid surveys.</div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Paid surveys are newer and are also a great opportunity to make some side money. They may not be the best paying job ever, but if you’re looking to make a few extra bucks each week, you can definitely do so! So, what is so great about these paid surveys you may ask, continue reading below to find out!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Anywhere: What is better than being able to work anywhere you want? Whether you want to work from home, at the library, at the beach, etc you can do so with paid surveys. All you need is an Internet connection, and you can be on your way to making money right from your computer.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Anytime: You can also work on paid surveys anytime you’d like. Whether you like to get up early and get your work done by 10 in the morning, or you’re a night owl and like to work at midnight, you’re capable of doing so. These surveys are very convenient and are based around your schedule not a schedule that your boss comes up with.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Unlimited: If you’re desperate for money, you can do as many surveys as you’d like. It may take some time to get the money to come in, meaning you won’t get paid that instant, but you can do as many as you’d like whether it be one or one hundred!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Easy: What’s also great about paid surveys is that they are so easy. This is probably the easiest work you’ll run into. For example, a survey is all about asking your questions. Big companies and business pay people to get the opinions and advice from others trying to improve their business and to get statistics. So, they will ask you question after question (usually multiple choice) and you will just answer it. It’s that easy!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">If you’re looking for a great opportunity to work from home, or anywhere, consider doing surveys. They are a great convenience, are very easy to take and can help you avoid having to pick up more hours at your current job. They may also help keep you from having to pick up another job! There are several benefits to these, so try signing up for a couple and see what they’re like. You may find this is a new job and opportunity for you!</div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">It was a real tough obstacle to overcome. No, it wasn’t the fact that he grew up in poverty or that his father was arrested for robbery when he was twelve. There was something else Tyrone had to overcome if he ever wanted to fulfil his dream of becoming a basketball player. Something that seemed to bother everyone else much more than it did him. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">But Tyrone never listened to what other people said anyway. He still went out for his high school basketball team and not only started all four years, but guided Dunbar High School to a state championship and through two straight undefeated seasons.</div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">“All right,” people said at this point. “High school is fine. But with your handicap, ain’t no way you’re playing college ball.” Wrong again. They underestimated the DESIRE this kid had to play the game. Tyrone wanted it and wanted it BAD. Nothing, not even his handicap, was going to stop him. After he graduated from high school, Tryone attended Wake Forest college. He played basketball all 4 years averaging 11.3 points, 8.4 assists and 3.1 steals a game. Not bad for a kid with a handicap such as he had.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Then Tryone stated talking about going into the NBA. “Paaa leeese,” people would say jokingly. “Ain’t no way.” People laughed and thought nothing of it. As far as they were concerned, the kid should be happy that he did as well as he did in college. But the NBA? FORGET ABOUT IT!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">But once again Tryone believed in what HE could do and not what other people thought he could do. He wanted to play ball and wanted it bad. If only he could get an opportunity to show what he could do. If only the NBA would look past his handicap and give him a chance.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">To the amazement to others, Tyrone got the opportunity he hoped for. The Washington Bullets took a chance on him and drafted him in the 13th round. He finally got his “moment in the sun.” But could he prove himself? Was his handicap too much to overcome? Would DESIRE win out over LOGIC or would LOGIC prevail?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">To make a long story short, DESIRE did win over LOGIC. Not only did he play in the NBA, but he was the teams (the Hornets) leader in time played, assists, steals, turnovers and has a career average of 11.2 points a game. What’s more amazing is that this man played in the NBA for 11 years in spite of the fact that he was born with the handicap of being only 5’ 3” tall, standing just below the chest of most NBA players. The shortest man to ever play in the NBA with the likes of Jordan and all the other greats.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Tryone “Muggsy” Bogues is a great example of how the desire to want to succeed will win out over the logic to quit if a person is willing to work hard enough to achieve his or her goals. If there was only one poster hanging on the wall in my room to motivate me in WHATEVER goal I wanted to succeed in, it would be that of “Muggsy” Bogues, the little kid who could. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
